KSK: Let’s see… I think Dictator is the only one left.
Itabashi: There’s more push back on Double Knee Press.
Nemo: It pushes back really far. Crouching LK doesn’t reach anymore so it’s hard to lock down now.
Hiropon: But I think some characters benefit and some characters suffer because of it. For example it was scary to go in on Zangief before, but it might be OK now. As for other characters…
Tokido: I think he’s gotten weaker overall. He really couldn’t do damage outside of Knee Press.
Itabashi: I think Dictator is better off sticking close to the opponent.
Nemo: Also, his roundhouse got nerfed to 80 damage. It’s supposed to be the same as Honda’s fierce.
KSK: And what about his Ultra 2 getting changed to a charge move?
Hiropon: I think that’s not going to affect the top players.
Itabashi: You think so? In any case I always thought it was weird for him to have fireball commands for a move.
Tokido: I think it depends on the person, but I think it the command change makes a difference.
KSK: So maybe Dictator is going to have a harder time in AE?
Hiropon: I think as long as he finds a way to deal with characters with horizontal momentum, he’ll be OK. I think it’s more of a relative nerf than actual ability nerf.
Mago: I think it’s going to be tough for him.
So who will reign supreme in the long awaited AE?
KSK: So, who is going to be top tier, ability-wise.
Mago: Yun, Fei Long, Viper, Chun, and Boxer.
Nemo: And Sagat, Adon, and Zangief.
Itabashi: Zangief, too?
Nemo: Definitely! He has a lot of good match ups.
Itabashi: No, I think he has more bad match ups.
Mago: No no no (laughs). You’re not giving him enough credit. Zangief is pro.
Itabashi: Is that so (laughs)?
Tokido: And Akuma, and definitely Makoto.
KSK: That’s 9 characters. Isn’t that too much? What about characters to keep an eye on?
Mago: Umm, I’m only thinking about Fei Long [?].
Nemo: For me, Makoto, Adon, Yun and Yang. I think they’ll be very fun characters.
Hiropon: They do seem fun.
Mago: Adon is fun, especially if you get in [to him?]. Air Jaguar is really dangerous.
KSK: Itabashi?
Itabashi: If we ignore strong and weak for a moment, then I’d say Hakan seems fun.
Hiropon: Makoto for me.
KSK: There was talk that Makoto is unstable. What do you think, Tokido?
Tokido: Stable hmm… I think in the hands of a good player, a player that knows Third Strike Makoto, she’ll be pretty solid. With Kara-Karakusa and the like.
Itabashi: I’m also curious about Makoto. I think she’ll be pretty scary in the hands of a good player. They’ll bring out her explosiveness of Third Strike.
Mago: There’s a lot more defensive/evasive maneuvers in SFIV, so I think it’s going to be harder to do her mixups.
Itabashi: But once she gets a bit of Yomi, she’s dangerously explosive.
Mago: She is dangerous.

A Tale Of Rushdown To Turtling

I remembered the time when I only know Joseph as a friend and he was there to advice me on my gameplay.
His words to me,'You need to train your defense.'At that period of time,my defense was fucking weak.My tech slam was slam and there were countless times that my defense was broken down just by one move:slam.
Normally if you kena slam a lots of time in a round, you begin to do stupid things like mashing slam or stop blocking which only ends up dying faster since you become more frustrated.
In the past,I aimed to kill the opponent less than 45 seconds or else I chiong him even if I have much larger life lead. The only moment that I turtle was when I was du lan and unable to handle the 'turtle' opponent.:(
Only when I begin to know Tommy + Leslie and I slowly become more turtle lol.I was able to tech slam with advice from Xian and regularly play.It took me around 4 months to become a wu gui.:D
Turtling achievement:
Once have life lead with Tetra, play mid screen distance with Tetra until he buay tahan.
Turtle Pei Hoon until time out
Once have life lead with Tommy,do same thing until the matches drag until nearly time out

AE Bison

I kind of relieved that Bison is still quite the same but I feel that the 'ssf4' and 'ae' exclusive characters need to watch out liao.*Hint hint
Close Range
His close range I feel that it is pretty much the same since Bison is still able to do a cr.lk to light scissor kick after a near range light scissor kick. The cr.lk hurtbox was not really that significant fortunately..
Mid Range
Pretty much the same with the exception of st.hk damage nerf.
Far Range
Nothing changed here lol.
What I feel:
Yun and Yang I feel it is still manageable but again,I feel that yun and yang players needs more time to test out thing first.:P
Cammy matchup I feel is quite the same with the exception that she need to use ex to do the meaty 'dive kick'.Her combos are still very pain.:(
Guy matchup I feel now is going to be harder in super because Paul nearly win me.Haha.No la..Better cr.lk and st.mk.(I could swore that guy's st.mk become better..)
Viper matchup,a bit like Cammy.Dun ever teo Viper cr.hp combo. The kiddy neutral jump is reallly goood against her.ABUSE.

The Guai Lan Adventures of Sherman and the 'Toa Payoh Gang'-Xbox live Japan

I held a console session with the 'Toa Payoh Gang',who consists of Tommy, bishan Jonathan and Dixon.
It was the most epic console session because it was a console session that only have ONE joystick. So if you were asking why are we not playing with each other, tat's the reason.
So the result of living with ONE joystick, was to play XBOX live with the Japanese lo.
Around 4+-I fetched Dixon and Jonathan to my house.Strangely,it was the FIRST time that I actually went to play custom match with the japanese.
It was some random play with some random Japanese.I was the scout that time to sieve out the famous players.
After some random play,I found the best Japanese seth,Hiropon. The Gambleboxer went out and won.(win 2 rounds lose 1 round) And it ended Hiropon eat Dixon cr.lp,ex headbutt while blocking and lost....
After that match,I went to find Hiropon again and with great luck,I found him again.(Win 2 rounds lose 1 round)Nothing much special but my neutral jump hk seems to win his wall dive jump hk a few times..Jonathan also played with him and also did not bad too.
Besides Hiropon,we found:
iceage r(Played with Jonathan once with cammy and then kicked us out.):(
piyoppia(Known as AFG and rumored as Pie)-Did not kicked us out but did not start the game..
TAKEHOKO(Jonathan played with him...)
AudioSunSun(I played with him and when I was about to win,he stood there and did nothing.....)
toro1006t(A okay okay akuma.)
DX MATSUKO(A really good ibuki here. But I think the bison vs ibuki matchup is quite tough for ibuki so I won.)
Genius K127
There was a vega which was the most turtling vega I have ever played.Though it was the right way to play(at the time I was using balrog),but I ran out of patience on the third round.(3/4 and full screen turtling)
In the third round I snapped out and I did balrog's ultra when I only a little health. The result was I got TOP TIER XIALAN JAPANESE TAUNT.(Vega signal his hands to ask the opponent to come.
I was playing Arcade mode at that time so he was the guy who challenged me first. And then he appeared again. In my mind,I was like,'Ccb,this time you die liao.'
And of course the person I was using was Bison here lol. This matchup I feel that,'If anyone has a life lead here, the person with lesser health is in for a tough time.'
There was a distance I know where I can jump where Vega needs to block but the same also applies for Vega itself. So both players were actually finding a jumping spot.Once I was able to have life lead,I give him 3/4 and full screen turtling and could not resist a little Xialaness.(Crouch, stand, crouch, stand)
There was some jump ins he landed but I poh a few times ex psycho which was punished by his slide and some he kena.I was able to win the first round through this..
Second round I manage to make jump in here and apply some frame trap here.(Cr.lk,cl.st fierce and cr.lk,delayed cr.lk) I must say this guy tech defense is quite strong. But I was able to tech his slam much in the round.
I take some risks by doing st.hk a little outside the cr.mp which he got hit while doing his hk slide and moving in.Fun,tough and good game with this vega.Though later he did not play with me again.:(
After that,he played with Tommy himself and Tommy was using chun li.(And tommy mentioned that he played offensive instead.Maybe vega players would understand why).Tommy lost.:(
Tat's pretty much the console session is about.:)

Facing A Gangat Or Leschan Part 2

Ultra Selection
Ultra 1
A lot of people may say why use ultra 1 than ultra 2.Reasons I heard:
1.Can poh 50-50
2.Sagat-fireball char
But recently, most bison players switched to ultra1 which I feel that their rationale was in high level games, people are not going to throw fireball blindly or at least do feint attacks that make u tink that they are going to fireball.
Plus sometimes with ultra 2,you also begin to wait for fireball which ends up you get frustrated because he dun fireball at all.(Also,SY has a great post about his ultra2,here.http://www.round1.sg/forums/index.php?topic=1247.45)
With that said, ultra 1 is not something to brush aside especially when there is fake focus attack level 3.:D
Ultra 2
I feel that when you use ultra 2,your mentality must be,'There are other ways to get in.'The only time I feel you should wait is the you have a life lead or the player teo pressured until he blur or the player is dumb.

Facing A Gangat Or Leschan Part 1

Time to talk about my favorite matchup for super and also for vanilla.(Depending who I am playing with.:D)
Sagat was pretty toned down compared to Vanilla but I personally feel that it is a matchup that Bison still has to play smart to win.
Far Range
This is a pretty tricky range for bison, I feel. If you do devil reverse/headstomp mixup, sagat players would:
Jump front hp(Kills heavy devil reverse)
Jump back hp(I personally like sagat to do this, imo. They only trap themselves into corner in the matter of time.)
Light tiger shot/Heavy tiger shot(To hit you while you land)
Neutral Jump hp/??? (Kills heavy devil reverse and headstomp)
Ultra2(Kills light reverse)
But again, this range is quite good when sagat has much lower health than you and is using ultra 1. Just squat there with ultra 2 and ex sk mixed with neutral jump, 623 teleport and devil reverse.
Medium Range
Some players tell me that,’ Just spam hk la.’ But the problem here is, sagat st.hk startup time is 5 frames and ur mid range pokes like st.mk and st.hk is 6 frames. So, if sagat pressed st.hk first, u going to get hit first..
The good news is, you can whiff his st.hk by walking backwards and do a walk forward st.hk. Other ways are doing cr.mp/cr.mk which will go under st.hk due to the hitbox of st.hk.
Sagat st.mk is a pretty decent poke but it has a slow startup time of 9 frames and of course, not forgetting low tiger shot. So how do you go about through this matchup?
First, condition sagat player not to do standing hk by trying to punish it.Slowly move in with st.hk and st.mk cautiously and not forgetting light sk.
Close Range
I feel that this is the position where bison most excels in.Unfortunately,it is the same distance where sagat player LOVES TO POH UPPERCUT.Bison players needs to give a delusion to sagat players that they are baiting for uppercut.
After sagat blocked your jump hp,you do a teleport or cr.lp 3 or 4 times and backdash. When you see that sagat players did not do a uppercut, this is when u apply frame trap and mixup with slam.So first you condition the sagat not to do uppercut and that is how you are able to do your mixup shits.

But for me... it was Tuesday.

Bison vs Chun Li
This matchup is one of the most annoying and bad matchup since the time of vanilla. I think the matchup is improved since the arrival of bison’s ultra 2.
The idea in this matchup is to push Chun li into the corner and keep her there.
The annoying things here:
Light kikoken is too freaking slow to do an ex sk.(By the time it reach you, chun li has already recovered.)
Bison jump in attacks can be stop by Chun Li:
Jump hp,hp
Cr.hk
Far.st.hp
Now:
Df.lk(T_T)
Not only that, even when you are in range of cr.lk after light sk,cr.lp can stuff it.:(
Can link to ultra 2 or ex lighting kick.
What bison should do:(imo)
Have life lead.Turtle like no tomorrow.
If chun li is a bit predictive with far.standing mp or cr.hk,it is time to focus and punish with slam or cr.lk sk combo
I think the best punish for hazanshu is cr.hp(Saw this when lsy vs some other chun li) or ultra 2(if you have leslie like reaction.)
Neutral Jump hk on kikoken combined with empty neutral jump works wonder except on tommy.
