Learning Cody Writeup

After watching furansujin cody,I feel like playing Cody.(Reminds of the Makoto Claw period while I was dazed by the beauty of Claw, but I ended up giving up learning Claw as I faced the power of pohness that Claw need to face.)
Poh Jump In
Poh Uppercut

In the end,poh wins and I stopped playing Claw lol.Anyway this is not a writeup for any Cody players but rather some notes that I myself can take note of.(For example:Cody pokes.)

Notable Moves that Cody have:
Fwd.hk(Opponent crouching move like cr.mk go under it and link up to slam or frame trap.)
Cr.mk(Cody's slide-Can be used to get in or to beat moves like Sagat's st.hk and Bison's st.hk)
Cr.mp(Saw some of the cody players use it a mid range move supposedly to stuff out moves.)
Zonk Knuckle(Used as a mid range poke by some cody players. Not so sure of reason either.)
Bad spray(Cody sprays sand on wakeup.Seems to be a good wakeup move but unsafe.)

Cody's Combo

cr.lp,cr.lp,cr.mp,any versions of ruffian kicks/crimson upper
cr.lp,cr.lp,cr.lk,any versions of ruffian kicks(except lk)/crimson upper
st.hp,cr.mp,any versions of ruffian kicks/crimson upper

Combo to ultra
cr.lp,cr.lp,cr.mp,heavy ruffian kick,fadc,ultra1
cr.lp,.cr.lp,cr.lk,heavy ruffian kick,fadc,ultra 1
st.hp,cr.mp,heavy ruffian kick,fadc,ultra 1
Ex zonk knuckle,fadc,ultra 1
Ex Bad stone,ultra 2

Corner exclusive combo
st.hp,cr.mp,heavy ruffian kick,ex crimson uppercut
st.hp,ex zonk knuckle,ex crimson uppercut

Safe Jump For 5F?(Not sure can beat 4 frames lol.):
Back throw, jump immediately hk or lp,
Low version of ruffian kick, wait a while, neutral jump hp(Can mix up with cr.lk,lp crimson upper. This safe jump is provided that the opponent do not safe tech.)

Frame Trap for Early Tech:

Cl.st.mp

Frame Trap for Late Tech:
Cl.st.hp
Cr.hp
Fwd.mp

Show Me Thy Strength

Every player is gifted in some way or another. There is a particular trait or attribute that we are strong at and I feel it is necessary to use it to the fullest potential.

1.Reaction
Some players have really good reaction. Some of players I could tink of are Leslie and Tommy.I feel players who have good reaction normally are able to punish thing not because they are baiting for it but because they are able to react to it and punish accordingly.

2.Execution

Some players I know have really good execution. One of the great example would be Xian who I tink can use pretty much all the characters. Some people I talked to have either problems with charge motion or shoto motion.People I feel have good execution are able to do 1 or 0 frame combo like a piece of cake.

3.Creativity
Some players are really creative. They invent moves that you dun see other people use and the move is useful. The best example I could give was the guy who do a uppercut cancel to akuma super and fake focus attack level 3 to ultra 1.

4.Patience
Some players I feel in Singapore is really patient. They can play to wear down the opponents and you see the time over with people who have great patience. They are calm and make few mistakes. One player I could tink of is a pesky Sagat player.A pretty easy guess right?

5.Adaptability
Do the same thing once in a round.Do the same thing second round you found yourself in trouble with people strong at this. This kind of player who is strong at this trait adapt really fast. You always need to have a new gameplan each round against this people or else you are screwed. The person I could tink of would be Soon Yong.I really cannot try the same shit against Soon Yong because he adapt fast to my gameplan. When I used too much of the same anti air against Soon Yong like st.hk and neutral jump hk,he did max range st.hp which can be used to beat my st.hk and he walk forward a bit and jump hk to beat my neutral jump hk.

6.Footsie
Some players space really well and when they use the normals,it looks so godly. One of the player I could tink of would be Raven. He really spaced himself well and know which normal to press at this and that distance.

This are some of the traits and attributes I could tink of and there are more. But I am up for a movie,Source code so this blog post ends now lol.

Confusion About My Playing Style

After being a turtle for a long time,I realised that I cannot be a true turtle lol.At first when Person A told me that I was aggressive,I was like,'Really meh'.To give you some background information, there are countless times that I hide in the full screen distance from opponent.

It was after that I realised that I was running out of patience most of the time. Then it was somehow a week after the part when Person A told me that I was aggressive,Person A says something that I was surprised.

The conversation was somehow like this:
Person A:You like to get near the person but I want to get away from the opponent
Sherman:???

It was a moment of truth.I never really like to sit at the corner of screen and doing nothing.Surprisingly I never expect Person A would say that lol.But I really prefer to get near the opponent.Later I began to ask some famous turtles like Person B and Person C.

Reply From Person B:
The person more turtle I like.
I was thinking at that time:Wow.

Reply From Person C:
You cannot play like Person A.
I was thinking at that time:Ya...

Happy guessing who is Person A,Person B and Person C.No prize awarded lol.

Bison Vs One Eyed Joe

Going to write this guide again..Haiz..

Things You Need to Know in this matchup:
Sagat have a kara uppercut which means that you had to be careful about jumping over lk tiger shot, even if you are 3/4 screen away from sagat
Beware of cr.lp when doing your sk loop.Cr.lk is not as strong as before..
Know the range where your cr.lk and cr.mk and also cr.mp beat sagat cr.lp after sk
Know your opponent's frame trap.(Is he catching your early tech or late tech?)
Ex tiger knee used to escape from corner.Look out for it..

I feel the main concept in this matchup is to drive Sagat into the corner where his options are limited.
There are technically 3 ranges that Bison players want to be in:
1.The range where you can ex sk over the fireball(Pretty good esp when you have life lead.).This is normally around a bit less than 3/4 screen away from Sagat
2.The range where you can do your sk loop(Highest damage potential for bison compared to other range that Bison can be in.)
3.The range where Sagat normals will whiff and be punished by st.mk and st.hk

Far Range:
Sagat do have pretty good tools to punish your devil reverse.
Since devil reverse can land in:
1.Full screen away from sagat(Slow tiger shot)
2.Middle screen away from sagat(F.hk or kara uppercut or ultra 2)
3.Right in front of sagat(Jump back hp)
But it is still a good way to earn a bit of meter and slowly advance in.
The range where you do empty jump to whiff sagat uppercut and do jump hk if sagat throw out a fireball is priceless

Mid Range:
This is a very tricky range for Bison.
Sagat do have pretty good normals that can stuff Bison's normals but Bison can also do likewise.
The best range i feel is the range where sagat normals will whiff and you can apply your sk pressure and your normals.
Look out for sagat cr.hp,st.hk,cr.mp,st.mk.Either whiff it and punish with st.hk or st.mk or just sk after Sagat's normal.

Close Range:
Know the distance where your cr.lk and your cr.mk and your cr.mp can beat sagat normals.
Very Close Range-Cr.lk wins cr.lp
At the tip of the cr.mk and cr.mp-Cr.mk and the cr.mp wins
Beware of ex tiger knee which can be used to escape.Either st.hk after sk or sit around 3/4 screen where it can be reacted and punish.
Walk forward hk and jump mp to punish any jump back attempt from Sagat which is used to catch Bison sk.

Preferred Ultra-I feel that ultra 2 limits Sagat fireball game and punish pretty hard now compared to Super. If you wan damage, use Ultra 1.

Bison Vs Satsui No Hado

Akuma vs Dictator

Taken from http://ps3maven.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/street-fighter-4-characters-moves-list-ps3-akuma.jpg

Things you need to know as a Dictator player:
Akuma do have option selects to beat your escape options.(Os heavy uppercut, heavy tatsu, ultra 1,Os jump back).Respect it.
Punish any whiffed st.hk if the 2nd hit of st.hk whiffs.(Tat dun applies when akuma has ultra)
Know akuma sweep range
Punish any teleport if you can with ultra 2 or ex psycho or slide
Lastly, respect akuma frame traps.(Is he catching ur late tech or early tech?)

Far Range:
Endless devil reverse and headstomp can be done if the akuma player do not know how to beat it.(like purposely walking forward and doing cr.hp or sweep.)
There are 3 ranges devil reverse can land:
Right in front of the opponent
1/2 screen from the opponent
Full screen away from the opponent
Some akuma players mixes with slow and fast fireball to catch it and therefore sometimes Dictator player need to land in the 1/2 screen from the opponent to avoid getting hit by the fireball.

Mid Range:

I going to repeat this again.Know akuma sweep range.(Getting knocked down by sweep is a pain in the ass for bison.Knocked down by sweep = free vortex from akuma.)
Punish the sweep with st.mk.One best way is to walk deceptively in the sweep distance. And then when they sweep, walk back to whiff it and walk forward to punish it.
Look out for ex fireball.I feel that blocking it is not rrly good for Bison.Try teleport or backdash away from it.
Outside sweep distance,st.hk and st.mk is your best friend.Scissor kick is naturally your best of best friend.:D

Near Range:
This range is rrly good esp in the corner.Sk loop is rrly rrly good here. But look out for jump back hk or sweep. Both are common tools that akuma players normally do that can hit you during the sk loop.
For sweep, know the distance where the sweep cannot hit you but you can still sk lockdown akuma.
For jump back hk,walk forward and press st.hk.
Ex headstomp is pretty good esp in the corner unless you fighting against xian...
Some other options that akuma can do is jump towards you.Look forward for it.:D

Ultra 1 or Ultra 2:
I prefer ultra 1 for me but ultra 2 deter akuma from firing away from 3/4 or full screen.Ultra 2 can also use to escape or catch akuma teleport. But if you looking for damage, stick to ultra 1.
So in conclusion, ultra 1 = big damage and ultra 2 = limit akuma

Review Of Tactics Ogre and League of Legends

If you are looking for a challenging turn based game,I feel tactics ogre would be just for you.

Tactics Ogre:Let Us Cling Together

Pros:
Pretty good for ppl who like challenges(like saving an archer who rush to enemies frontline and ur main troop needs 3 turns to reach her.)
Chariot system(Got good and bad.
The good side-You can undo a turn when if you make a mistake
The bad side-You can abuse it since you can undo until 50 turns.)
Can have dragons and gryphons in the battlefield, instead of usual humans.
Classes can be changed around.(Warrior to Archer to Wizard or to whatever.)

Cons:
Can be hard to understand how to play it at first. In other words, its controls are not very straightforward.
Some classes are too overpowered...(Cannot say cause got leslie playing.:P)

League of Legends

I just started to play it with a little bit of dota knowledge.
The good thing is that you do not need to remember every heroes' hotkeys.
The best thing for me I do not deny my own creeps cause I very bad at it.

The system is almost completely identical to dota.
Heroes skill system same as dota except that there is no need to level up stats.Every hero got one special move like having cool down reduction or deal bonus damage or other stuffs.
The item system now is more classified for example magic would be separated into mana regen and mana and ability power and cooldown reduction.
Hero classification is the same as dota like dota has pushers and nukers.

If you are sick of the platform of dota,it is time to play league of legends.(Psychoing more ppl to play.lol)

There is only one sian thing is that you need to unlock the hero one by one..Heroes are priced normally 1350,3150,6300.Ok tat;s all folks.

Random Thoughts Again

I was planning to try out different characters. But ended up kept losing until I chose the guy with the red hat, which ending up using him all the way lol.

Evil ryu and dan is rrly fun but my execution sucks to the point that my uppercut did not come when I reacted to the person's jump in..

The other thing I really learn is to respect ur opponent all the time.It really helps to improve your gameplay.

My advice for ppl who fighting Pei hoon's yang is that dun overuse a single anti air no matter how good it is.For me I always try to mix up with neutral jump hk or st.hk or even focus attack.

Normally I would do neutral jump hk outside the distance of his uppercut and his jump in attacks.I use st.hk outside his st.lk and I use focus attack against dive kick that is high up.(which is used to whiff st.hk)

Tat's all for now.

After Game Thoughts

After just one week, everyone seems to have improved. Now got new setups, new 'POH' which makes thing pretty harder but fun.

Pei Hoon's Yang ex rekka mixup
Vintagesoul Grab ultra to catch tech slam

These are one of the few that I kena.Maybe it is the time for me to find and try out some new things also.Played with Xian's akuma and lost twice.Pretty much make a single big mistake in each round and gg lol.

Find out one new thing about Fei Long accidentally.I remembered teo pretty owned badly in the first round with Gackt Fei Long then and then on the second round I suddenly try out something.(It is like suddenly I feel like doing it out of no where.)

I stand outside less than 3/4 screen distance and spam st.mk/st.hk like no tomorrow. It hit gackt rekka most of the time.(It is like the rekka come out but get hit either by the st.mk or the st.hk.Normally when I stand within st.mk range, there are a lot of times that before I do st.mk I teo rekka....)

I tink going to test if I do at that distance,
would I lose or win his normals?

I realise there is a distance bison can jump on yang. The jump hp is fucking deep that it looks like a crossup hp.I tink bison can use that to get in.

Ok.Tat's all for now.Tired meh.

Random Thoughts

Been playing around ryu.Pretty fun though with my execution keep failing...

There are 2 ranges for ryu:
1.A range where you fireball the opponent jump u uppercut
2.A range where you fireball at very close range(normally outside your opponent best poke)

Sian now ae very few ryu players.Mean no one share with me.:(

I learnt today that guile need to learn the distance where he empty jump, guile dun kena uppercut. But if he press hk(jump hk),if the opponent will to fireball, the opponent will teo hit.

Today I still tech by reaction....Still trying to tech the correct way.(crouch tech during the blockstring.)

Categorizing Your Opponents Part 3

Okok. This is the final episode for the series Categorizing Your Opponents.I going to talk more in depth of knowing your opponent.

For those who have not read the first part or the second part, the first part is about why you should categorizing your opponents and the second part is categorizing your opponents in various group.(Example:Rushdown or turtling)

Knowing Your Opponent
Every player I would say confidently has a bad habit or weakness.
Some of the examples are:
Some player I know would always try to escape on their wakeup.
Some players tech slam not so strong.
Some players has a problem with blocking tricky crossups.

These are some of the various examples.Knowing your opponent's character also help.
For example,in the past,I would forward dash jump mp 2 times against akuma players and most of them kena cause they want to do jump back fireball.

And one trick that I use againt blanka players is that I purposely do a block string then stop to bait for upwards ball.

So what I am saying here is this, there is a habit for player who use that specific character and you going to punish that habit. There are player specific weakness that you need to abuse to ensure easier victory.:D

Hopefully this can give you a rough idea of catching the opponent bad habit or weakness and exploit it.(Anyway I wanted to do a player specific one but I feel this kind of thing can be sensitive.Hopefully you are satisfied.:D)
